Day 5: Group Site Visits, Mr. Bassam's Lecture, and a Visit to Level 43 Sky Lounge

We started the day with a good breakfast to fuel us for our morning site visits. On the way to the sites, we caught up on some sleep.

Finishing up breakfast at FORM Hotel.

Cedars of Liberty napping on the way to the Nad Al Hamar job site.

Cedars of Liberty visited the Nad Al Hamar Residence. This residential and commercial building mix will have 2 basements, a ground floor, 12 floors of apartments and a roof level. First, we got a tour of the site office; including rooms for the MEP Coordinator, Draftsman, Subcontractor Offices, Storage Room, and Pantry. Then, we went to the meeting room in the site office and Mr. T. R Subrajmanyam detailed the process from start to finish. Mr. Kanniah, the site engineer, discussed the process of how the site is excavated and waterproofed, as well as how the steel bars are used for the foundation.

Cedars of Liberty arrived before the other team so they had the chance to chat with Mr. Yabroudi, Dr. Samuel, and Sara and discuss their future plans.

The skyscrapers spent the morning at Bright Start Headquarters Development. The building is a new office and residential tower consisting of 3 basement parking levels, ground floor in addition to 29 storey tower, a mechanical floor, and a swimming pool and gymnasium at roof level. The visit was organized by Mr. Jihad Choueiri, the project director, and Ramy Elkhoury, the engineer on the site. They both explained in details the different activities being executed on site from post-tension slabs, to core wall construction, to finishing in the basements.

The team also had fun building the partition wall in the basement.

After the site visits, we all made our way back to the office. After everyone changed out of their sweaty site clothes, we took a quiz on yesterday's site visit to ERGA. Then we enjoyed a lunch of chicken burgers and french fries!

Lunch time.
Lunch is served, the interns can now focus and are ready for their lecture with Mr. Bassam on construction planning and scheduling. This presentation mainly focused on the construction planning, scheduling, project general document, and site booklet.
It was an interactive lecture where all students participated in solving two examples that Mr. Bassam has provided. Make sure to revise it for the quiz!!

The example solved during the lecture.

After lecture, we all had time to go back to the hotel and relax a little. At night, we went to Level 43 Sky Lounge to celebrate Bryan's 22nd birthday. This lounge had an amazing view of the city (and very close to the Bright Start Headquarters job site as well!) Everyone had a great time relaxing and enjoying the view.
