The day started off with the usual breakfast and quiz revision time at the hotel. Next, we headed to ERGA the consulting company, and were greeted warmly by Mr. Joseph Sawaya, the managing director of the Dubai branch, which executes 60 to 70 percent of the projects with DCC. At ERGA, we were introduced to the different types of projects it has done in the past years. Mr. Joseph Sawaya introduced the projects and mentioned the challenges the company faced in execution. Moreover, we were guided through the major concepts of modern construction executed by the company. After that, we had breakfast at ERGA, followed by a tour around the architectural, structural, and MEP departments.
After the fruitful introduction to ERGA works and offices, we headed back to DCC offices to have our usual quiz on the material that we took during yesterday’s lecture about Project Management.
For lunch we had Stroganoff, which is a Russian dish of sautéed pieces of beef served in a sauce with Smetana.
The second part of the day began with a presentation given by Bryan Schnapper about the report, research, and presentation guidelines. He provided us with tips and advice and gave us the chance to ask any question about the work to be done.
Next we headed to the hotel for some rest time where some of us went to the pool and the others went to the gym for a workout.
Finally we ended our day in the best way possible by having dinner at the Lebanese restaurant called “AL SAFADI” were a variety of delicious Lebanese food and sweets were served. The students from Syracuse finally got a chance to try most of the great Lebanese food, and we all got to celebrate Dr. Clemence’s birthday. Thank you Mr. Yabroudi!
